The 3 important things to know  that a clean disk brings:

- La  extends the life of the diamond.

- More detailed music with pure sound.

- A limitation of parasitic noises, cracklings and pops.

The observation is simple, during playback, the vinyl record attracts dust in suspension (electrostatic phenomenon). Dust particles infiltrate the groove and cause crackling and crackling during listening to the passage of the stylus. You should also know that reading dirty discs damages your stylus.

Here's a demo video and for those who prefer reading it's below the video.

I am sometimes asked howclean vinyl records. I am a small business selling diamonds and sapphires for turntables. As much as I can recognize a diamond on a simple photo,  talk to you for hours, about sapphires, diamonds, conical, elliptical or shibata cut, as much for cleaning discs, it's not not my department. So I contacted Patrick, a record store in the Puy de Dôme who gave me his opinion and I also made a video.

- For discs that are new or in perfect condition, dry cleaning is perfectly sufficient. Before putting the disc back in the sleeve, a passage with an antistatic brush eliminates dust and maintains the sound quality for many years.

- For dirty discs, second-hand discs, or discs which have been kept in their cardboard sleeves for more than 10 years without an antistatic protective sleeve, it is preferable to use liquid solutions. It uses an isopropyl alcohol-based vinyl cleaner spray (to be used with an anti-static cloth). The solution effectively degreases vinyl records, removes fingerprints and impurities embedded in the groove. The sound rendering will be purer and the music more detailed. On the other hand, it has no miracle solution for the scratches that cause the creaking. ;o)

- There are also ultrasonic devices to clean the disc in depth at some record stores (the cost is around 1 euros per disc)
